In today’s post I’m happy to introduce you to the ultimate scent for autumn: Salt Caramel by Shay & Blue. Inspired by Charbonnel et Walker’s sea salt caramel truffles (yum!), it’s my favourite fragrance from Shay & Blue. If you’re not familiar with this brand I highly recommend to go into their boutique in London or check out their website. It’s a beautiful British niche perfume brand that I discovered a few years ago, which uses real flowers, fruits and spices. Their blue bottles are just gorgeous and Salt Caramel is simply divine.
I exclusively wear Salt Caramel during this time of year because it’s warm and cosy, and as you’d expect, smells of delicious caramel. It’s almost edible! Thinking of toffee apples right now… This scent immediately brings up all the things I love about autumn like chai tea lattes, walks through colourful parks, crunchy leaves, chunky sweaters and fuzzy socks… the list goes on. Join me on this olfactive journey!
Key Notes
Top: Caramel, sea salt
Heart: Tonka bean
Base: Sandalwood
Olfactive Classification: Oriental Vanilla
What to Expect
From the very beginning a creamy vanilla note invades your nostrils. It brings a sense of warmth and comfort, and at the same time makes you want to buy 10 boxes of gooey caramel… in a completely uncontrollable manner. Although it may seem like the initial spritz of Salt Caramel is overwhelmingly sticky, there’s an interesting liquor-like facet that mingles with a light chocolate note, which freshens up the fragrance. It’s like you can almost feel the taste of Baileys in your mouth… fantastic! This sensation will then give way to a more intense caramel scent, one that is rich and buttery. And maybe with a hint of popcorn. Salt Caramel is undeniably a delicious treat. An inviting and cosy gourmand.
My Olfactive Journey
Saturday 6th October, 2018
Waking up this morning to a glorious day. Summer has passed but we are blessed with having an Indian summer… beautiful colours and a gentle warmth. The start of a new season and beginnings. Today we’re going to Garsons Farm in Surrey to go apple and pumpkin picking. And yes, I do love doing some typical autumn activities!
Look at this pumpkin patch! The only things missing are a scarecrow and haystacks… feeling some serious Halloween vibes.
On a mission…
… found a winner, it’s bigger than my head!
And then we have the orchard. I’ve never seen so many types of apples, it’s wonderful! Decisions, decisions… Also, countless dessert recipes are going through my head right now (hint, hint ;)).
My impatience got the best of me so had to try one… really yummy, sweet and satisfying!
Double trouble… it’s more fun when you’re two! Special thanks to Solange for taking me to Garsons Farm and showing me around! Had the best day and looking forward to going back during Christmas time 🙂

There’s nothing better than taking a stroll through a park and being surrounded by different hues of yellow, orange and red. Ah the beauty of nature! And what better place to see the trees in all their glory than at Kew Gardens.
Cute pictures with colourful leaves (that are coincidently very Instagrammable), check.
Resting on a bench under the trees thinking of my next recipe, check.
Collecting leaves of all sorts of colors, shapes and sizes, check.
Jumping into a pile of leaves, fail. Note to self: I’m not 5 years old anymore.

It’s 7:00am and the taxi is waiting in front of my apartment. After being in London for three years, I’m finally crossing all of the city to go to Richmond Park. For those of you who don’t live around London, Richmond Park is a National Nature Reserve where you can see deer in the wild. Yes, you heard me. How incredible is that?!
The 1.5 hour long journey is definitely worth it. Upon arrival the early morning rays shine through a fog lifting over the grassland. This setting could be a scene out of a period movie… Pride & Prejudice maybe? Channeling my inner Elizabeth Bennet…
It’s surreal to have such a beautiful place so close to London. You can easily spot deer herds and get very close to them without them shying away. It’s magical.
Hi there, Bambi!
Sunday 28th October, 2018
It’s pouring rain and cold outside. Definitely not stepping out… it’s the perfect day to stay in and snuggle up with a hot chocolate and binge watch series on Netflix. Lazy Sundays in autumn are the best!
Don’t mind me, I’ll be happily resting by the fireplace drenched in Salt Caramel… feeling oh so cosy.
